Christmas and Paganism

More On, "Is Christmas Paganism?"

Q: Show me a verse that Father commanded you to celebrate this pagan feast? Yeshua and apostles never did this. They celebrated feasts described only in Leviticus 23. Do you? But I am, because it has been commanded. Yeshua was not born in dec 25. He was born in SUKKOT. Christmas is SUN WORSHIP DAY. Do you keep Sabbath? Yeshua & Paul kept Torah. Why don't you (Matthew 5:19)?

A : It is like people asking, show me the verse in the Bible where it is told not to smoke. We can easily say from the other Scriptures that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and if we destroy it by smoking, God will destroy our body physically as a sign of His judgment as like for every other person who smokes
(1 Cor 3:16-17). Searching for a verse and living according to it is a Old Testament standard of living life by the law, in the New Testament we live by the Spirit's leading which is higher than living by law (Rom 3:20-22). I keep the Sabbath but not leagalistically. I was once like that under the law but now aim to live by the power of the Spirit and I am so joyful about it (Rom 8:4; 2 Cor 3:6). I surely have learned and am learning to rejoice in the Lord always more and more living by the New Covenant standard. Praise the Lord! It is not wrong if you keep the Sabbath and festivals as a response of gratefulness to know more about the message behind the commandment of God, which was given as a foreshadow of our salvation through Christ. But keeping it legalistically will take you in to the bondage of the Old Covenant life which only gave people the knowledge of sin but not deliverance and a overcoming power to live a life that brings glory to God. Only through faith we can please God and that includes rejoicing during Christmas time too.

Jesus kept Torah to fulfill it for us all, as it has been proved by the Israelite's for 1500 years that they cannot keep the law for salvation
(Matt 5:17) and have told us to follow the Spirit (John 16:13-14) and Paul the Apostle did just that and said, "20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference." (Rom 3:20-22). This "righteousness of God apart from the law" is what we as Christians should walk in and not in the "deeds of the law". This kind of righteousness is not by our human effort but by believing and living in faith on the promises of God (2 Cor 1:20). Apostle Paul never promoted any Christians to keep the law of Jewish rituals at any time but instead he discouraged it if they were not Jews by birth (Gal 3:1-6). All believers are expected to live by hearing of faith that empowers them to live in a higher standard than living by the Old Testament law. Hearing the word of God will make faith come in to the believers heart and as a result of it (Rom 10:17), they will be empowered by the Holy Spirit to live an overcoming life which the law cannot do as it does not give the power to overcome but just the knowledge of sin (1 John 5:4).

Much Blessings.....
