Any Thought On Elijah's Altar?

Did Elijah Repair the Old Altar Or Rebuilt A New Altar?

Question: Look how Elijah took 12 stones and made an altar. In 1 Kings 18: 30-32 the Word of God says, "And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.

And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, unto who the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be thy name. And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed."

I found something interesting in these verses. In verse 30 Elijah repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down, then in the next verses Elijah built a new altar. By taking twelve stones and putting them up in the number of the sons of Jacob, who was called Israel. Why would he have made a new altar, after repairing the old one?

Any thoughts on this?

Answer: I believe the word
"repaired the [old] altar" means that Elijah, took out all the old things out of the sacrificial area and cleared the area of old rubble which were broken down by time and misuse, in order to put in the new uncut stones to represent 12 tribes of Israel. In the Mosaic Law, God has always commanded to put new uncut stones for sacrifice (Jos 8:31). He did this so that other pagan people might not accuse Elijah of tampering and bringing in the fire of God.

The parallel in our New Testament times is that God in His eyes throws away all our old sinful nature before His eyes and then makes us a living stones of the new creation when we were born again
(1 Peter 2:5; 2 Cor 5:17). The spirit man is not visible and was not put in by humans religious works but by the Lord Himself from above (John 3:3, 6). This is why "born again" means 'born from above.' Now as we have been placed as uncut stones, God expects us to give our soul-life of our mind, will and emotion which is kept over our spirit man by divine positioning to be given voluntarily as a living sacrifice for the Lord's use (Rom 12:1-2). Once we do that a divine fire from heaven will start to consume the sacrifice of our soul and a new light of heaven will start to burn in our soul, just like the divine fire from heaven which consumed the sacrifice on the altar, the wood, stones , dust and continued to burn till it licked all the water around the trench of the altar during Elijah's time. We will be so filled with the fire of heaven that we will start to shout by the amount of revelation we get by saying, "Truly Jehovah is the only God, Truly The LORD, He is God...." (1 Kings 18:37-39). O Glory! Praise the Lord!

Thanks and Blessings.....
