Can The Gifts Operate Without The Presence?

Is There A Difference Between The Gifts Of God And The Presence Of God?

Question : Hi could you please let me know what is the difference between the gifts of God and the presence of God, and can the gifts operate without the Presence.

Answer : Hello, Greetings in Jesus wonderful name! To say simply, gifts are one time transaction that happens from God and are predetermined by the calling that God has for a particular person born on this earth
(Rom 11:29). In other words, once God has predetermined to give a gift to a particular person, he never takes it back based on the behavior of the person who operates in it. Balaam had a gift, a very powerful prophetic gift that God had given him and he was not even an Israelite but a pagan Gentile who spoke oracle of God saying, "3 The utterance of Balaam the son of Beor, the utterance of the man whose eyes are opened, 4 The utterance of him who hears the words of God, who sees the vision of the Almighty, who falls down, with eyes wide open." (Num 24:3-4). We see in this utterance Balaam wanted to boast about himself and not the God by whose Spirit coming upon him he was able to speak the oracle of God. Here we should notice a thing, Balaam was not lying about what he saw in the spiritual realm, he had a calling of God over his life to be a prophetic voice to the Gentiles and Pagans. But because he sought after money and not after God (2 Peter 2:15-17), he chose to use sorcery, which is the art, practices, or spells of a person who exercises supernatural powers through the aid of evil spirits to control and influence the life of others. In other words, Balaam knew the existence of the calling of the true God of Israel over his life, he knew that only righteousness pleased the Lord, yet for the sake of money he intentionally displeased the Lord by going against the desire of His heart by choosing to practice sorcery which is an abomination to Him (Num 24:1-2; Deut 18:10-14; Lev 19:31; 20:6; Isa 8:19-20; 1 Sam 28:8; 1 Chron 10:31). Yet we see the powerful prophetic gift that operated, brought him to the forefront of revealing even the future Messiah who will come through the nation of Israel (Num 24:17). When a person called to minister for the true God of Israel, doesn't repent of his sins and choose to walk sacrificially in the highway of holiness (Isa 35:8), he will never become a child of God and people of God to walk pleasing to Him. A unregenerate man with his gifts will make a lot of noise but without real substance of a good character will stay in darkness, but will choose to use the gifts of God to make money and live a fleshly earthly life (Prov 18:16). That is when God allows the demons to take control of these money seekers to defile them and degenerate their character which will utterly ruin their lives with all the curses of God to take them off straight to hell fire (Deut 13:1-3; Luke 16:13).

Even Judas was given a very powerful gift of apostleship by Jesus, as he had the calling of God over his life
(Acts 1:25), but by transgression he fell, that he might go to his own place which is the place of hell fire where all unregenerate people stay after their death physically (Matt 26:24). Judas heard the teaching of Jesus from close quarters and even acted as a close companion of Jesus, but never opened up his heart for Jesus to save him from his sins. So he became a rebel against God at the end and went to hell fire for his act of betrayal of the righteous Jesus who actually loved him and wanted him to get saved from sin and hell fire through Himself who is the only way to heaven and friendship with God (John 14:6; Luke 23:42-43).

These people had the gifts to exercise and make money out of it, but never had the favor of God's Presence to become a child of God and the people of God. So it is one thing to have the gifts of God and operate in it, but it is totally another thing to feel the Presence of God and choose to fellowship with God as His own people or as a child of God and live a lifestyle that will please God
(1 John 1:3, 7; Matt 5:48; Col 1:10-11; Eph 5:1, 10). To be living in the Presence of God is to stay in the very fellowship and intimacy with God like Elijah did in his life that carried so much power that he even stopped the rain at his word for three years and six months (1 Kings 18:15; Jam 5:17-18). The gifts can operate without the presence of God through other evil spirits of deception acting through the unclean vessels, but the presence of God cannot stay with a person or in a person without that person repenting of sins and choosing to walk in the highway of the holiness of the Lord.

To have fellowship with God and being in intimacy with the Spirit of God is the Glory of God experienced, to just operate in the gifts of God gives us no experience of the Glory of God. God is concerned about our Character and not just the performance of us through the gifts that He gives which anybody can experience out of the calling that He gives to them. Gifts do not change the sinful heart of a person, but the glory of God will change the heart of a person to make him/her become a partaker of the Divine nature of God
(2 Cor 3:18; 2 Peter 1:3-4, 8-11).

So gifts are what God gives to us as a one time transaction to glorify Him, but Character is something that we give to God by choosing to repent of our sins and from then onward spend time in His Presence willingly to let God transform us in to His likeness. Because we are whom He foreknew, He also predestined us to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren
(Rom 8:29).

Many Israelite's saw only the acts of God that came through God's gifts, but only Moses experienced the ways of God through experiencing the Glory of God which is His Character
(Psa 105:26-27; 103:7-8; Exo 33:18-19).

So become exactly perfect like our Father God in heaven who is perfect through having fellowship and communion with Him, and walk always pleasing to Him, changing yourself from one level of God's glory to another which He loves to reveal. Thus there is no greater joy to God than to see His children become partakers of His Divine Glory Seed of His Character more and more
(Matt 5:48). You cannot please God by doing which is usually gifts that God gives to you, but only by being in Him and experiencing the Character of his essence by waiting in God's Presence through faith, you can choose to please the Lord always at all times and give Him something back in thankfulness for His goodness towards you. God's power can operate through gifts without the revelation of His Presence, but God's Presence will always operate with the revelation of God's personality and His power. When we seek the Presence of God, God's power will automatically follow us. Don't just seek the gifts of God, but seek the Giver of all gifts along with it, so that you will be blessed eternally to have friendship with the God who gives all things to all humans. Praise the Lord!

Much Blessings....
