Why God Has Given So Many Prayers In The Old Testament?

Can You Please Write An Outline About All The Prayers In The Old Testament?

Question: Can you please write about all the prayers in the Old Testament? Why has God given so many prayers in the Old Testament?

Answer: Greetings! God has clearly told in his Word that all the Old Testament Scripture is first of all given for our edification and an example and admonition for us New Testament believers upon whom the ends of the ages have already come
(1 Cor 10:11), so that we will learn the lessons from it in a positive way to avoid the mistakes that they made which made them lose the blessings and favor of God in their personal lives (1 Cor 10:6). And also the Scripture mentions that whatever was written in the Old Testament was for our learning and that includes all the prayers of the Old Testament, that we might in our New Testament times through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope (Rom 15:4).

Paul exhorts us to devote ourselves to prayer
(Col 4:2) and to pray without ceasing (1 Thes 5:17). How can we pray without ceasing or stopping? One of the finest way is to meditate upon all the prayers of the Old Testament and develop an attitude of prayer through which we should be able to pray all the times from our heart to God through thought prayers, and also by praying and singing in the Spirit (1 Cor 14:15, 17, 18). In reading the Bible, we see that prayer is saturated within God's Word. When we pray according to the Word of God which abides in us, Jesus has promised that whatever we desire, it shall be done for us through our prayers (John 15:7).

O what a BIG promise from our Lord Jesus Christ! Hallelujah! These Old Testament prayers impacts important events, interweaving with God's sovereign plan in history. The Bible refers to the word prayer or expresses a prayer in 61 of its 66 books, making close to 1,100 distinct references to and about prayer. Can we joyously delve in it for the Glory of God! Amen! Be blessed!
